Naluri is proudly celebrating the recent achievement of our data science team at the Databricks Generative AI World Cup 2024. This global hackathon brought together over 1,500 AI engineers and data scientists from 18 countries to deliver innovative AI solutions to real-world challenges.
Competing against top companies and teams from across the Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ) region, Naluri’s team was named first runner-up for their project, Case Crafter, an AI-powered tool designed to simplify and automate therapy note-taking.
Introducing Case Crafter
Case Crafter is designed to address a long-standing issue in the mental health industry: manual and time-intensive therapy session documentation. A recent survey revealed that therapists spend over 10 hours a month creating case notes, often after work hours, leading to stress and delays in patient record updates.
Powered by large language model (LLM) technology, Case Crafter alleviates this burden by automating the note-taking process, enabling therapists to focus on client interactions.
Key features of Case Crafter
- Speech-to-text transcription: Converts therapy session recordings into accurate transcripts for easy documentation
- Case note templates: Offers pre-designed formats such as SOAP, BIRP, and DAP notes for consistent, structured outputs
- Sentiment analysis: Provides insights into the emotional tone of sessions, helping therapists monitor client progress
- Progress note recommendations: Tracks client improvements and proactively flags areas of concern
- Built-in feedback form: Allows therapists to indicate if outputs are accurate, improving results over time
This note-taking solution combines essential features into a single, intuitive tool to reduce therapists’ administrative workload, freeing up valuable hours for direct patient care.
Driving Innovation in AI-Powered Health Solutions
Naluri's data scientists—Chloe San, Nusaiba Alwarasneh, and Vanessa Tong—developed Case Crafter with impressive speed and quality. Their ability to deliver a fully functional prototype under tight deadlines is a testament to their expertise and dedication.
This team is also the driving force behind other AI innovations within the Naluri ecosystem, such as:
- Luca: An AI dietitian that automates food scoring and analysis, offering instant and precise meal ratings and feedback via the Naluri App’s Food Journal feature
- Hope AI: An NLP-driven (natural language processing) mental health screening tool that assists mental health coaches in real-time depression detection and monitoring
What's Next
Building on this achievement, the team is exploring ways to enhance Case Crafter and integrate additional capabilities, including:
- Speaker diarisation: Enables speaker identification for more precise documentation, which can be particularly useful for group therapy sessions
- Resource recommendation: Leverages AI to analyse session themes and suggest relevant content for therapists to share with clients
These developments will further bolster Naluri’s mission to deliver comprehensive, enterprise-grade health and wellness solutions, helping employers, insurers, and healthcare providers improve the wellbeing of their workforce, members, and patients at scale.
Congratulations to Chloe, Nusaiba, and Vanessa for their incredible work at the GenAI World Cup, and thank you to Databricks for providing such a valuable platform for AI innovation.
